Hello Maxwell here. Sorry it’s been so long but Brexit fucked us. Brexit fucks us in many ways, from major issues like the cost of printing and shipping, to small issues like the fact we can no longer be www.bemojake.EU ! So for the past few months we have been transferring domains and giving the whole website a clean up. I built the website in 2009 using HTML which is now all most likely stuck together with diminished coding. But here we are, with this, still not fantastic but works alright, website. Importantly the shop aspect should be easier to use and I wanted to introduce a couple of ideas.
Firstly this News aspect. We are not the most prolific publisher out there. That’s mainly to do with finances. In case you were not aware already, on contrary to many beliefs, we publish for the love of photography, and books, and materials, and the desire to introduce work to the world that we feel should be presented and given a platform. We don’t really make profits on books. And if we do, it all goes straight back in to the next book. So every time you buy a book that we have published, you’re supporting the next project, which is great! Anyway, here I wanted to continue to support artists and encourage conversation, while we are not in a position to physicalise projects, by offering some interviews and features with people and things we are interested in. I guess kind of like a blog? I hate the word blog, but yeah, that…. as well of course as some actual news of what we have going on.
Our Quietness
I just also wanted to let you know what’s going on with Bemojake at the moment.
In 2019 we had three books planned for 2020. I was excited. And then pandemic happened. We just simply couldn’t afford to function for the entire year. The books got put on hold. It’s now 2021 and I think it gave us the chance to have an un-official break.
